Bio

South African-born cinematographer Mathew Rudenberg’s striking visual aesthetic has elevated art-house genre features such as SUN CHOKE and ULTRASOUND (TriBeCa 2021), star-studded comedies including the Emmy nominated action film DIE HART 2: DIE HARTER, SEVEN STAGES (TriBeCa 2018) and THE PRANK (SXSW 2022). He has also lensed over 100 episodes of scripted TV including cult hits like BLUE MOUNTAIN STATE (Lionsgate) and KROLL SHOW (Comedy Central), as well as the Emmy award-winning interview show ACTORS ON ACTORS for PBS.

His documentary projects have taken him to a wide variety of fascinating places - from the maximum security wing of Folsom prison to a Juggalo rally at the DC National Mall, and has won prizes such as the SXSW Grand Jury prize (THE WORK). This hybrid experience brings a refined cinematic aesthetic to his documentary work, and a grounded realism to his narrative. He lives in North East Los Angeles with his wife and two children.
